Overview

In metallurgical industry and in machine building industry, any steelmaking process (converter or electric steel furnace) needs to control the variation in molten steel composition and temperature. The fast response thermocouples are used as temperature sensors to help control the temperature of any molten steel. They boast a series of strong points, such as fast response to the measurement, simple operation, high accuracy and so on.
These fast response thermocouples have been designed as a kind of series products in our factory. They have a successful experience on development through constant improvement and much practice also absorbing the strong points of similar products from domestic and foreign manufacturers and heeding the opinions of users from all sides. The present series product can not only meet the needs of steelmaking processes to measure the temperature of molten steel, but also fulfill certain requirements selected by users according to their own wishes either for economic benefit, product quality or for easy operation and so on.

Operation

Select the proper length of a protective paper tube and an applicable test lance in accordance with the measured process and the measuring range.

Install the fast response thermocouple onto the test lance. Then adjust the secondary instrument (or a digital meter) in connection with the test lance until its pointer moves to the zero point. That indicates a good contact and the thermocouple can be put into measurement.

It is good practice to immerse the fast response thermocouple in the molten steel down to a depth between 300mm and 400mm. The measurement requires the operation to be quick, sure and accurate, AS soon as the secondary instrument indicates the measured value, the test lance should be pulled out. The immersion period of the fast response thermocouple in the molten steel should not exceed 6 seconds for fear that the test lance should be burnt out.
